There are types of dental situations that can be fixed fairly quickly. Issues such as cavities and tooth infections are great examples of dental situations that fit this description.
On the other hand, there are problems that take a great deal of time and patience to fix. This is true of any situation involving teeth that need to be shifted around the mouth. Luckily, at Carol Pacheco D.D.S., we offer orthodontic treatment to any patients in need.
What Is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a type of dentistry that diagnoses, corrects, and prevents a patient’s malpositioned teeth or jaw. Very few people are born with perfectly straight teeth. It is actually much more common to need braces or other straightening treatments.
Benefits of Orthodontics
Through the use of orthodontics, patients with crooked teeth can experience the following benefits:
- Improved speech.
- Greater ability to chew food.
- Increased ease for flossing and brushing.
- Reduced risk of cavities and periodontal disease.
- Reduced risk of injury to self or teeth.
- Reduced risk of chipping or grinding teeth.
Beyond the health benefits, having straighter teeth will get you one step closer to your ideal smile.
Types of Orthodontics at Carol Pacheco D.D.S.
We work closely with our patients to offer them the best type of orthodontic treatment for their needs, whether our patients have baby teeth or permanent teeth. We offer the following types of orthodontic treatments at our practice:
- Preventive Orthodontic Treatment for Children: We use a type of braces specifically designed for children from ages seven to about nine that will gently move their baby teeth around to make room for their incoming permanent teeth.
- Invisalign® Clear Braces: This treatment is a great alternative to traditional braces, and it is available for any of our patients with permanent teeth that require correction.
These orthodontic treatments can improve health as well as the look of a smile!
