Preventive Dentistry

Dr. Pacheco and PatientIf you’ve ever experienced a cavity or root canal then you know what uncomfortable experiences those can be, even if they are necessary. But wouldn’t it have been preferable to not need those treatments at all?

Most oral diseases are fully preventable, and there are steps we can take to ensure your teeth and gums have the best chance at avoiding serious conditions in the future. Through the practice of preventive dentistry, our office is able to offer that kind of security to our patients.

What Is Preventive Dentistry?

Preventive dentistry is a twofold concept: 1) protect your teeth through proper care at home, and 2) preventive treatments offered by a dental office. Caring for your teeth can help you avoid dental issues such as cavities, enamel wear, gum disease, etc.

While brushing and flossing at home is very important, complete care requires regular cleanings with your dentist. At your visit to our office, we can help you improve your oral hygiene by teaching you effective techniques and evaluating the effectiveness of your at-home routine.

Proper preventive dental steps will set you up for great oral health and strong, vibrant teeth that could last you your whole life!

Preventive Dentistry with Carol Pacheco D.D.S.

Carol Pacheco D.D.S. has multiple types of preventive dentistry treatments and procedures, including:

  • Fluoride Treatment: Fluoride fights decay that can harm teeth while also building strong teeth.
  • Protective Sealants: Sealants are painted over the chewing surface of the back teeth (molars) to prevent bacteria and germs from gathering on the grooves of those teeth.
  • Prophylaxis: Prophylaxis is the name given to a type of deep cleaning treatment designed to halt the progression of periodontal disease and gingivitis.
  • Teeth Cleaning: A regular six-month checkup involves removing plaque and tartar. We also take time to polish your teeth.
  • Oral Hygiene Maintenance: We’re passionate about educating our patients on preventive techniques. Our oral hygiene maintenance goes over what we recommend you do at home to best protect and preserve your smile.
